Litcamp

Pulp.Net have launched pre-registration for LitCamp, a writers’ unconference scheduled for the weekend of 12 September in London. Taking its cue from BarCamp, LitCamp is “not an academic conference or a marketing exercise, and it’s not about worshipping star writers”, but an opportunity for writers, publishers and agents to meet each other, exchange ideas and practices and share new work. Writer and artist, and past Pulp.Net guest editor, Alistair Gentry writes:

While Pulp.Net’s focus has always been publishing the most excellent new short stories, LitCamp can also potentially cover anything related to storytelling in the widest sense. Who are the best but least appreciated publishers in the UK? Is there a writer (or editor, or teacher) you always wanted to hear or meet, but who wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near your local Waterstones or toffee-nosed, Radio 4-flavoured literature festival? Know a writer who’s also a great performer or inspirational mentor? Need a specific skill? Suggest writers, workshops, books or schools of writing. Offer your talents. Organise a social. Run a blog or online publishing project? Join us in London, tell everyone about what you do and substantiate your physical existence. LitCamp will be completely shaped by the input we get, and I personally hope this metropolitan event is overwhelmed by people, perspectives and work from outside London.
