TRACEY I NAME CONSTANTINOPLE

by

John Bryan

Tracey I name Constantinople

This girl was born Tra'cea
But, as empress, she changed it
To Tracey

This girl
Is Madonna
Without child
But not virgin

This girl is more
Eastern than western

This girl
Knows that
Our fervours each
Holed up inside the other's icon
Become a Nirvana like state
Rather than a conquering
Flag in all it's imperialism
Atop a mountain defeated

This girl
Is neither Turkish or Greek

Before dawn has time to flesh
Night seems to harden
And it deepthroats
Orthodox
This girl.

This girl
Maybe captured
Until the collapse
Of my name.
