Maintenant #103 – Rolf Hermann

The Maintenant series – 101 interviews with contemporary European poets – was begun at 3:AM Magazine in 2010. Offering a glimpse of the vast range of poetry being created in 21st century Europe, the series has been a landmark exploration of continental poetics in the English language. With the physical cancellation of the European Poetry Festival in London during 2020, a series of new longform video interviews are presented here at 3:AM Magazine, again with some of the most dynamic contemporary European poets, whose work is exploring the possibilities and potentials of the artform, as an addition to the Maintenant series.

Rolf Hermann is a Swiss author. He was born in the canton of the Valais in 1973, where he also worked as a shepherd in the summer months. He studied English and German Literature in Switzerland, as well as in Iowa, USA. He writes and performs poetry, prose and spoken word. So far he’s published 6 books, numerous audiobooks and radio-plays. Some of his works have been translated into 9 languages. For his creative work, Rolf Hermann has received recognition through a number of literary awards, e.g. a Writer’s Fellowship in Paris, a Writer-in-Residence for Poetry in Tübingen, the Rilke Encouragement Prize as well as a the Cultural Prize of the city of Biel. He lives with his family in Biel/Bienne, a bilingual city in Switzerland.
