The passage of shingly winds
\non your once thin and smooth back skin
\nhas given your spine,
\nnow chainsawing waters and air as you zero in for prey,
\nthat motion thickness.
\nSand gales grate your lips
\nthe glaze of your eyeballs scraped and dulled
\nby their fiercest carress
\nand endless rags stream behind your running frame
\nlike dried liana hanging from the arms
\nof a Khmer God in the summer typhoon.
\nAll curves gone angles.
\nAll angles gone sharper still.
\nThe very hailstones split as they meet
\nyour razor flanks.
\nYou now are this tempered blade,
\nthicker, keener, colder.<\/p>\n
