{"id":51033,"date":"2012-09-17T23:30:06","date_gmt":"2012-09-17T23:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.3ammagazine.com\/3am\/?p=51033"},"modified":"2012-09-18T20:29:30","modified_gmt":"2012-09-18T20:29:30","slug":"rusty-kjarvik-my-new-bride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.3ammagazine.com\/3am\/rusty-kjarvik-my-new-bride\/","title":{"rendered":"My New Bride &amp; other poems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Rusty Kjarvik.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My New Bride<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These days awash<br \/>\nin her comely fragrance,<br \/>\namid the torment of city strife,<\/p>\n<p>My new bride<br \/>\nof Mexico&#8217;s sweet spirit<br \/>\nlies in hiding beneath the Vietnamese bread<br \/>\nof a smothered, chalk-sworn man<br \/>\nof musical wheezing<br \/>\nonto the grief stricken panic,<br \/>\na might of foreign blood<br \/>\nworking penniless in the &#8211; airy cry &#8211; lost<br \/>\ntoxic mud, my wine<br \/>\ndrunk<br \/>\nfrees me to the endless breath of another woman&#8217;s god<br \/>\nblessed in New England&#8217;s tribal homes<br \/>\ngone mourning to the still, hot night<br \/>\nof total dissatisfaction<\/p>\n<p>as her son climbs the dismembered mountain,<br \/>\ntrembling with rocks of tragic failure<br \/>\nrolling down to kill my boulder of trash<br \/>\nkeeping the flood of human night<br \/>\nin a Calgarian restaurant,<br \/>\nfanning silent confusion<br \/>\nwith the rustic, all-blasted aftermath<\/p>\n<p>enslaved, reading angry tomes<br \/>\nof someone else&#8217;s problem<br \/>\n&#8211; stirring &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Rendering heaven,<br \/>\nblinded, my smile now withers<br \/>\nto a gnome, chilling<br \/>\nthoughtless under a rug, <\/p>\n<p>blue god journeying to the eloquent swine,<br \/>\na flock of murderous rounds<br \/>\nbeing dressed to the nines<br \/>\nand masturbating off,<br \/>\nall thick and engrossed<\/p>\n<p>In the call: \u201cI swallow the come of the sick goddess&#8221;<br \/>\ndrugged by metal<br \/>\nand hurt in a future birth,<br \/>\nbreeding starless talks of facialized distress<br \/>\nin the backroom to no rest,<\/p>\n<p>Always ruinous,<br \/>\nin a fortitude-stricken Icelandic behavior<br \/>\nto be the final hum before the earth dies in a forgotten cry<br \/>\nof swaying lonely flesh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImpregnate my death with dirt and rain<br \/>\nand I shall become your savior enslaved,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cmy damned temptress<br \/>\nlight with the longing of a perfect and little room,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cave Home<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCave! home&#8221;<br \/>\nbefore the apologetic spray<br \/>\nof early being<br \/>\ntouches your true shape<\/p>\n<p>In the cloud<br \/>\nbreast of a Kala<br \/>\nswooning numinous in an Asian wilderness<br \/>\nof genderless mystery,<\/p>\n<p>and what do our ramshackle hearts smell?<br \/>\nclose to a savage waste<br \/>\nas overwhelming and without choice<br \/>\nas drowning in the rice stew magic<br \/>\nof a motherless animal<br \/>\neaten raw, over a lover&#8217;s fattened tummy<br \/>\nnow screwed into all intoxication<br \/>\nand psychic bewilderment,<br \/>\nuntil the stare blows rhythms of ancient minds<\/p>\n<p>Kissing astir over a forest moon&#8217;s rotten, plugged navel<br \/>\nswollen &amp; churning like the monster of the great Mediterranean<br \/>\nGreek odyssey of schooling<br \/>\nbroken suddenly by the sweet songstress<br \/>\nand her astral tide<br \/>\nlounging in the rough sand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cYes, don&#8217;t fear&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We say,<br \/>\nto a self gone in hiding,<br \/>\nto the farm bug lifting to the edge of belief,<br \/>\nwith love for the food of life<br \/>\nin between fingers,<br \/>\nstretching and flexing,<br \/>\nin the middle ground,<br \/>\nagainst a backdrop of fanciful world division,<br \/>\nor burdened blues:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;a woman is dreaming<br \/>\nto hear the pledge<br \/>\nto the frozen smiles of wide-eyed crowded fields<br \/>\nthat grow and decay<br \/>\nto the orbit of a lunar catastrophe<br \/>\noccurring every oceanic spawning,&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;that ephemeral beauty<br \/>\nwe all know to arrive, one day<br \/>\nbreathless and raised with red flames of miraculous fatigue<br \/>\non the shores of the way,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Portuguese, and embarrassed by the justice of history<br \/>\nand the meat-carved lands of a strong rumour<br \/>\nchewing on herbal tests of pyramid stamina in the old world<br \/>\ntowards a new, deathless embrace with the burning and ruthless war<br \/>\nthat continues still unsure<br \/>\nat the tip of a teenage nipple, bursting forth<br \/>\nwith the blood of the elderly and infirm<br \/>\nmoved to tears in the hospitalized nation of economic mutilation<br \/>\ninsinuating the shattered designs of the artists<br \/>\nwho cry for money on the streets of our psycho-logical disease<br \/>\namid the buttressed wailing funerals of elaborate priestesses,<br \/>\nnude with slack locks, dripping of spiced vomit<\/p>\n<p>on English assimilation,<br \/>\non the ethnocidal blushing of whiteskin, drooping<br \/>\nwith the unanswered silence of genetic ownership<br \/>\nfor the sun&#8217;s own kingdom<\/p>\n<p>blooming with a developed flower<br \/>\ncoarse and poor as the ghost&#8217;s desert body<br \/>\nand dehydrated Arab morgue of Zionist Palestine<br \/>\nthat carried bombs into the home of Europe&#8217;s scared, childish heart<br \/>\nand now the ugly American race chimes steadily to the revolutionary drum<br \/>\nwith armed blurs of hellish repetition<\/p>\n<p>in the love for a smoke-and-mirrors fall<br \/>\nfrom the human god, that domesticated plants and animals<br \/>\nin the sanctuary of energy transformed, to a lingering betrayal through lust<br \/>\nfor the last kiss of a skeletal hush<br \/>\nfertilizing the absent womb,<br \/>\nnever trembling with seed or even possibility<br \/>\nof the staggering release<br \/>\nthat floods our empty power<br \/>\nwith futile control<br \/>\nand laughs at a havoc<br \/>\nin complete dismay<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.3ammagazine.com\/3am\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/authorheadshot.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"173\" height=\"338\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51039\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.3ammagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/authorheadshot.jpg 173w, https:\/\/www.3ammagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/authorheadshot-153x300.jpg 153w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 173px) 100vw, 173px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE AUTHOR<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Rusty Kjarvik<\/strong> is an emerging writer who has begun to embark on a career path as a creative writer only within the past year.
