Where When Renga<\/strong><\/p>\n

we have decided to make Scotland secure
\nhold hands with biding, that clan
\nthe maps are being redrawn
\ncontour-like into a frown
\nlatitude and longitude deciding one’s fate
\nin between an eq-uil-lib-eri-rium in-a-rium -in-a- – –
\nplaced, reserved, a stumped and fallow mapping
\nand where? and when?
\nchicago, first born
\nwhores, when april, in Tbilisi, like a boy<\/p>\n

Present Renga<\/strong><\/p>\n

waiting for people in the presence of the singing lift
\nwaiting for buses in the presence of pouring rain
\nand storing the scoring of the gifted in kind
\ngood gifts and bad lovers are tightly wrapped
\nheat shrunk around the fork lift present
\nas in a drop it was a drop of the drop of the the the the drop the the in drop the
\nwhat others edited became the instant, a pit between breakfast and supper

\nstill, as a teenager, during world war II<\/p>\n

what can be done \/ for love beyond \/ the food of evil
\n4 and 20 have no answers to your question
\nlet love glean itself from the swim of liquor
\ndouble double splint by a spoon
\npooling mastic gristle and newspaper
\ninsatiable slush spits salacious sorrows
\nout of a mouth in a hole like a grey beneath a notion of pasting
\ninfinite digestion, what groaned into morning
\no albion! your ambrosia revisits me again, and again
\nblake takes an extra spoon of liquor
\nto give pie, that I may sit down<\/p>\n

River Renga<\/strong><\/p>\n

and thank you for the pile of driftwood
\nthat came from upstream, another world
\nunwrought word unheard of; it should
\nfleet running, beneath our feet
\na lithe silvered street by wheat
\nthe river withers; meandering its mollases
\ni sit by it i sit and watch it ebb and at an ebb it becomes an I
\nhorizon, in itself, and ever beyond reach –
\nwhere it longed for it ran, undaunted
\nso the idiot’s grin, southbank’s calm return
\neating the half moon, day by day<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE PROJECT <\/strong>
\nThese poems are the result of a collaborative workshop called ‘Theft Renga’ facilitated by SJ Fowler at the launch of the ‘Dear world & everything in it<\/a>‘ anthology launch, at the Saison Poetry Library, at the Southbank centre, in London, January 24th 2013. Around a dozen poets were asked to rapidly write sequential lines in response to one another, upon a piece of paper passed clockwise around the group, with reference to themes decided by the group and, if needed or desired, with the aid of plagiarised lines lifted from books in the Poetry Library’s collection. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
