Somewhere between The Ritz and the gilded gutter
Fleet Street reports the death of Colony Room bar hand Michael Wojas at 53. Our resident barfly Sophie Parkin reported from the Soho bohemian dive on its 60th birthday and interviewed fellow habitu é Sebastian Horsley, whose Dandy in the Underworld begins its run at the Soho Theatre on Wednesday.
Spring Never Grows Old
The other thing he liked about this new sun was what it had done to the girls. It had made them take most of their clothes off. A pretty damn genius move, George thought. He’d have been smiling too if he’d managed the same trick. The sun had rolled some of their skirts near as damn up to their asses. The high street was a parade of pink flesh, calf muscle, thigh padding, smooth skin and that special way they had of combining in motion that gave George flutters in his stomach. The sun had taken off their jumpers too. George liked that even more. All that softness showing through their t-shirts. He would have loved to run up and grab a piece.

I Am Tom’s Existing Fears
Writing a horror novel was never a decision I made – I just wanted to write a contemporary, relevant novel, about the world that I recognised. I suppose because I love horror and fantasy, and I do have an interest in folklore myself, those supernatural elements crept in of their own accord. Whatever I write, I try not to think about what genre the work might be, or where in the bookshop it might be shelved if published, in case those categories get restrictive.
