Noumena: Initiation
Performance art event themed Magic and Shamanism encompasses works focused on ritual, shamanic traditions (including healing and shapeshifting), paganism, witchcraft, occult, esoteric teachings, folk magic, as well as astrology, magical intents, narratives derived from mythology and religions, magical and symbolic languages such as grimoires and sigils. In this event NOUMENA: INITIATION we invite you to explore the IDEAL (Plato’s Forms) somehow unknowable world with a group of performance artists whose work carries on shamanic traditions. Per Kirkeby: In Praise of Diligence
What at first will appear handsome, clever, intelligent, must be brought to an end, must be ruined. Often the morning after it would become clear that what was there on the canvas or Masonite did not suffice. “Paintings that are merely beautiful or riveting in their colours are not enough if there is no structure within.” Only after a degree of “Untergang” or apocalypse can the real picture emerge, rising from the ruins of the beautiful. “I can’t begin by creating that structure. Well, I can, but then it needs to go down. The real structure slowly starts emerging in the picture.”
