Rather like those people on buses talking on their phones in a non-stop monologue, making you question if there is an interlocutor on the end of the line or just an empty room lined with mirrors and an echo chamber, Artaud wrote thousands of letters — to Jean Paulhan, to André Breton, to Jean Dubuffet, to Arthur Adamov, to Georges Braque, to Anne Manson, to Colette Thomas, and many others — but always to his self.
