3:AM Top 5: Ellis Sharp

Ellis Sharp blogs at The Sharp Side. He’s also written for Scarecrow. Opinion on his writing and writings tends to vary, like it should (‘Inimitable’, Ready Steady Book; ‘Always interesting’, 3:AM., ‘A total bastard’ Little Green Footballs).

His third novel, Walthamstow Central, is, we are told, “set in a Walthamstow where the residents are starting to dematerialize” and represents “a narrative of thefts, time travel, nuclear fission, cycling, and the turbulent multiplicity of East London.”

Ellis is currently drinking Laphroaig and listening to a lot of P J Harvey:

1. ‘Dear Darkness,’ White Chalk
2. ‘The Darker Days of Me & Him,’ Uh Huh Her
3. ‘This Mess We’re In,’ Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea (Thom Yorke and P J Harvey)
4. ‘Sheela-Na-Gig,’ The Peel Sessions, 1991-2004
5. ‘Is That All There Is?,’ Dance Hall at Louse Point (John Parrish and Polly Jean Harvey)
