Ode to a 1980s Baton Twirling World Champion

The baton rolls and blurs asp-like around
Girl neck. O elastic Cleopatra
Amphetamina, stung insanity,
Hounded by a sound like a bumblebee.

O pink puck, you buck, hurl; maenad Odette
Whirling out the jewel box. Frou-frou roulette,
Tricking probability. O rah-rah’d
Neon imp, you out-fox flexible bounds,

Tempestuous flea, fugitive judo,
Impeccable feat. In the final beats,
You flourish like a grinning flamingo,
Big eyes to the bleachers, big empty seats.

A/W

This autumn-winter
We tweet burka hyenas,
Death meteor frocks.

This autumn-winter
We eat flashbulbs like sunshine,
Cocaine like lotus.

This autumn-winter
We wear ether pyjamas.
