The Tarot of Marseilles was first created in northern Italy in the 15th century. After centuries of obscurity, it became an intregal part of the esoteric, and diabolical, system of the spiritualist and magician Eliphas Levi and has since influenced the likes of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and The Great Beast Aleister Crowley.
The Fool is the first of a Wunderkammer – ‘cabinet of curiosities’ – poetry trilogy (inspired by visionary & esoteric science, history & culture and in particular the poetry of Miroslav Holub). It will be followed by The Mechanical Turk and Tatlin’s Tower.
Several hundred Death cards from the Tarot deck will be shortly smuggled into books in shops across the land with excerpts from The Fool and links marked on the back. Five of these will be special golden tickets and the lucky recipients can come and accompany me through my crumbling asbestos-ridden factory, populated by decaying pygmies and rivers of industrial effluent. “For we are the dreamers of dreams…”
