On this day in 2005, a similar piece of pernicious legislation snook into Parliament via a convenient backdoor. I suspect it will take more than letters to Tony Blair from Ian McEwan* or protests by Salman Rushdie (for whom lawyers are already preparing a case on its assent) to prevent it from becoming law though.
