This week, we asked the very talented Susu Laroche to describe one of her pictures:
“It’s a triple-exposed photograph on expired colour film printed black and white in the darkroom. I’m not very careful with my negatives which is why it’s a bit mucky and scratchy. I suppose it represents the things I do and the way I do things because it’s a bit scratched and quite dark and is a double exposure. Actually, it’s a triple exposure: in the colour version you can see flowers because I got sidetracked on the way to the aquarium. There’s a bit of a running joke in my photography class that everything I do is ‘spooky’. I don’t think this is spooky, though my spooky-judgement-skills are rather bad. It was a half-baked idea that was aided by the fact that I quite fancied a trip to the London Aquarium. I don’t really like fish though. It’s nice there, despite the sad-looking fish and the tacky ‘chill-out’ music they play, and the ticket price. You should go.”
