Poem Brut #83 – long-haired asemics

By Cecil Touchon.

Cecil Touchon is a painter, poet, publisher, performance artist, collector, draftsman, photographer, and curator born in Austin, Texas (1956). With 40+ books and catalogs to his credit and 50+ one person exhibitions, Cecil Touchon’s art and poetry stem from his interest in the modernist history of abstraction. In his poetry, Touchon takes fragments of language from sources like spam email, manipulating them into purely aesthetic sounds and arrangements. Following the same principles, his collages and paintings deconstruct typography and reconstructs the parts into abstract compositions. His work builds on the ideas of modernist artists and poets to create a new visual language.
