Poem Brut #93 – Operation Yellow Hammer & other poems

Sara Louise Wheeler writes the column ‘Synfyfyrion llenyddol’ (literary musings) for Y Clawdd community newspaper in her hometown of Wrecsam. She is involved in the literary scene in the area in a variety of ways, including: being a member of the Owain Cyfeiliog society; helping to promote the forthcoming local eisteddfod in Rhosllannerchrugog 2021; and a new role as a ‘Stampwr lleol’, helping to promote Y Stamp magazine, encouraging and supporting new contributors. Her poetry, belles lettres and artwork have appeared in a variety of journals, magazines, and associated websites, including Tu Chwith, Y Stamp, Meddwl.org, Gŵyl y Ferch, Qualitative Inquiry, and The Centre for Imaginative Ethnography. Sara is currently conducting an introspective, mindfulness project called ‘Encil Cilgwri’ (Wirral Retreat), with the main aim being wellbecoming – the process of reaching a state of wellbeing; as part of this project she is exploring her embodied experiences of Waardenburg Syndrome Type 1 – through a variety of creative mediums. Other themes include dialect interactions, class, neurodiversity and borderland life. She is a Visiting Research Fellow in the psychology department at Glyndŵr University and she lives in the village of Ness on the Wirral peninsula with her husband, Peter, and their pet tortoise, Kahless.
