3:AM TOP 5: TOM GIDLEY
Tom Gidley's excellent debut novel, Stunning Lofts, has just come out on Metronome Press. But there's more to Gidley, far more. He co-founded Frieze magazine, is a former member of Big Bottom (a band made up exclusively of bass guitarists) and has exhibited a wide range of works over the past 15 years including his Trajan Reel (film) Installation at the V&A. Besides working on a new series of paintings and completing an album of reworked Harry Nilsson songs (in collaboration with his brother Matthew, Dan Fox of Skill 7 Stamina 12 and Andy Cooke of Socrates That Practices Music), he is collaborating with Bruce Gilbert (of Wire fame) and Liam Howe from Sneaker Pimps on a project to be unveiled at 3:AM's Xmas bash. He is also listening to:
1. "A Coral Room," Aerial ("though the whole album is on heavy rotation, presently") -- Kate Bush 2. "Tonight," Coles Corner -- Richard Hawley 3. "Cocaine Man," Floorshow -- Baxter Dury 4. "Lament 1 Bird's Lament," Moondog: The Viking of Sixth Avenue -- Moondog 5. "Listen the Snow is Falling," This is Our Music -- Galaxie 500
