    NEW ORLEANS BOOKFAIR 2005
3:AM Flash Fiction Editor Utahna Faith (left), who also writes and edits the brilliant Wild Strawberries, sends us a series of pictures from this year's New Orleans Bookfair -- the fourth -- which went ahead on 29 October in spite of Hurricane Katrina.

On the right: Megan Burns and Dave Brinks of Trembling Pillow Press and the 17 Poets Thursday night readings.

This is Steve Lacey of Dauphine Street Books -- an excellent second-hand bookstore in the French Quarter (410 Dauphine Street. Tel: 504-529-2333).

Right: GK Darby of Garrett County Press. The New Orleans Bookfair is an annual "celebration of independent publishing featuring small presses, zinesters, book artists, anarchists, rabblerousers, weirdos, and more". Participants include:

Last Gasp, AK Press, Verso Books, Microcosm, McSweeney's, Soft Skull Press, Get Lost Travel Books - San Francisco, Iron Rail Book Collective, Fiction Collective II, Garrett County Press, New Mouth From the Dirty South, Patron Saint Productions, Hot Iron Press, Monsterboy and the Boocoo Man, Roux To Do, Promethean Books, Quickdummies, Pelican Publishing, Sarah Inman, Favorite Recipies, Futurepoem, Coleen Murphy, Neighborhood Story Project, CrimethInc, Book Freaks, FAB, Left Turn Magazine, Swamp Mamma, Swamp City Girl, Black Rain Press, MIT Press, City Lights, Nth Degree Publishing. Here's a video of Andrei Codrescu (see our interview with the author here) talking about last year's Bookfair.
